Wow! Last Sunday was a blessing for me, and I think many of us felt the same way. I always say that one of the most important things we do as a church is baptize. I suppose that means reaffirming our baptism must also be high on the list. So, let's take that sense of connection and love for God we felt on Sunday and share it wherever God leads us.

This week, we're starting our worship series on The General Rules of the Methodist Church. The Methodist movement began because Wesley and the others believed that people like you and me could use methods of prayer, Bible study, and service to grow in God's grace. It's good to refresh our memories about what they are and how they can help us grow in our discipleship today. They remind us that what we do with our lives matters to God.

I'll be participating in the Prayer Service for the 40th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative March this Sunday. The prayer service is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Brooks Worship Center. The march will take place on Monday at 12:00 p.m. at the Nueces County Courthouse and will end at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. I always appreciate the opportunity to share this time with our community, and if you're able, look for me. See you Sunday!

Stay blessed...john

P.S. It's Serve Week. If you can help us distribute food or make 200 sandwich bags, we'd appreciate it. If not, let us know how you're serving the community so we can thank God for how our church is making a difference.

The General Rules of the Methodist Church

The General Rules of the Methodist Church are simple and deeply challenging. They invite us to do no harm, do good, and stay in love with God, offering a faithful framework for how Christians live out their faith day by day. Take a moment to read through the 3 rules as a way to reflect on your own discipleship.

Do no harm, do good, and stay in love with God

Remember that you are baptized

What if baptism is less about understanding and more about identity? Before the world names you by success, fear, or failure, God names you Beloved.
