This Lent, we are not rushing past sorrow and refusing to give up on hope.
Our Lenten worship series, Hope in the Ashes, will guide us through the powerful and often-overlooked book of Lamentations. These ancient poems were written in the aftermath of devastation. Jerusalem had fallen. The people of God were grieving. Lamentations is an acknowledgement of pain and suffering and a prayer for God to hear.
If you want to know more about the book, watch The Bible Project's illustrated video here.
Lent is not a season for pretending everything is fine. It is a season for honesty. For naming what is broken in us and around us. For bringing our grief, our questions, and even our frustration to God. Lamentations gives us language for that kind of faith, a faith that tells the truth and still trusts God’s mercy.
Over five weeks, we will explore:
How to name our pain instead of burying it
How to cry out to God with bold honesty
How hope can rise in the middle of hardship
How we face what has grown dim in us and in our world
And how to pray, “Restore us, O Lord.”
If you have ever walked through loss…
If you have ever wondered where God was in the middle of difficulty…
If you long for renewal…
This season is for you.
Join us beginning Sunday February 22nd as we begin Lent together and discover that even in the ashes, God is still at work bringing hope, mercy, and restoration.
